SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team lost for just the second time this season on Sunday in a 3-1 setback at Drury in a key Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.
The Panthers' Alec Nagel scored two goals in a span of three minutes, including the game-winner shortly after sophomore
DJ Bednar's equalizer in the 79
th minute.
A successfully converted penalty kick late in the first half gave Drury a 1-0 lead before Bednar headed in his fourth goal of the season with the assist to senior
Logan Ream to tie it at 1-1 at the 78:41mark. However, Nagel scored the go-ahead goal at 80:55 on a defensive breakdown by the Tritons before adding an insurance goal four minutes later. Bednar's goal and both of Nagel's goals came as Drury was playing with a man down following a red car ejection of a Panther player.
UMSL slips to 7-2-1 overall, including 6-2 in the GLVC, while Drury improves to 8-2 on the season, including 6-2 in the league, pulling even with the Tritons in the conference standings.
