Women’s Soccer Edged at Missouri S&T, 1-0


ROLLA, MO. – Missouri S&T scored the game's lone goal in the third minute to help the Miners to a 1-0 win over the visiting University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team on Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
 
The Tritons lost despite outshooting the Miners, 11-9, including 8-4 in shots on goal. UMSL fired nine shots in the final 45 minutes of play, placing six on target, but couldn't get the ball past Missouri S&T keeper Kaitlyn Deister, who registered eight saves.
 
UMSL falls to 5-4 overall, including 3-4 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T moves its ledger to 3-6 and 3-4 in the league.
 
Junior Sidney Allen led the Tritons with three shots, including two on goal, while junior Cassie McFadden landed both shots on target.
 
Junior Megan Ohm took the loss in goal, playing 68:15, while sophomore Amanda Schurzinske played the final 21:45 to log her first minutes of the season.
 
Sabrina Hostler scored at the 2:29 minute for Missouri S&T.
 
UMSL concludes its weekend roadswing at Drury on Sunday.
