ST. LOUIS, MO. – Seniors
Zach Standefer and
Jonathan Rosario each tossed a complete game to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis to a pair of wins over Wisconsin-Parkside in the start of a four-game series on Saturday afternoon.
Standefer tossed a two-hitter in the opener as UMSL won 1-0, while Rosario allowed just two hits in the 5-1 nightcap victory.
Standefer went all nine innings, striking out five and issuing just one walk. UMSL was held to three hits, two of which came from senior
Joe Wieczkowski, but scored the winning run in the eighth inning on sac fly by junior
Daniel Seddon.
Rosario struck out three in the seven-inning game two, while the offense scored five runs on seven hits. Senior
Michael Budka recorded three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs. Wiezcowksi added a two-run single in a four-run third inning by the Tritons.
UMSL improves to 5-7 overall, including 3-3 in the GLVC, while Wisconsin-Parkside slips to 3-10 and 1-5 in the league. The series concludes tomorrow with a 12 p.m. doubleheader.
