ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior
Carly Ochs recorded a match-high 21 kills to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team to a 26-24, 25-13, 20-25, 25-19 win over Quincy on Saturday afternoon.
Ochs recorded nine of her kills in the first set in which the Tritons scored eight unanswered to garner the victory. Quincy took a 24-18 lead on a Bekah Raebel kill before junior
Hannah Miller added a kill of her own. Senior
Haley Brightwell then served out the set, with four of the final eight points were on an Ochs kill.
UMSL hit .458 in the second set, recording 11 kills without committing an error, and finished the contest hitting .199. Ochs hit .450, finishing with just three errors in 40 attempts.
The Tritons improve to 7-4 overall, including 4-2 in the GLVC, while Quincy slips to 2-11 and 0-6 in the league.
Junior
Lindsay Meyer dished out 45 assists and recorded 10 digs to tally her sixth straight double-double, while sophomore
Jory Siebenmorgen finished with a career-high 20 digs.
Quincy hit at a .183 clip and owned a 7-6 advantage in blocks. The Hawks entered the match leading the GLVC in that category with 2.44 per set. Junior
Jessica Ploss recorded three blocks for UMSL.
The Tritons will travel across town to Maryville on Tuesday night before returning home next Friday to host Missouri S&T. UMSL will then close out the week against Drury on Saturday.
