ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team scored twice in the second half to record a 2-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference win over William Jewell on Sunday afternoon.
The Tritons rebounded from their first loss of the season on Friday night to improve to 6-1-1 overall, including 5-1 in the GLVC, while William Jewell slips to 1-5-2 and 1-3-2 in the GLVC.
Junior
Michael Schlemper came off the bench to score his first goal of the season and second of his career in the 72
nd minute from in the box with the assist to sophomore
Evan Garrad.
Freshman
Nick Werner netted his third goal of the season nine minutes later, driving the ball to the back of the net with the assist to sophomore
DJ Bednar. UMSL tallied 18 shots, landing 12 on goal, while limiting the Cardinals to nine shots, including five on goal as senior goalkeeper
Nick Lenkman recorded five saves. The Tritons outshot William Jewell, 12-4, in the final 45 minutes.
Junior
Tyler Collico placed all three shots on goal, while junior
Chris Pearson put his two shots on target. Werner finished with three shots, placing two on goal.
UMSL returns to action on Friday, traveling to Missouri S&T before a Sunday contest at Drury.
