Hot-Shooting Women's Basketball Downs Missouri S&T, 74-49

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team shot a season-high 66.7 percent en route to a 74-49 victory over Missouri S&T on Thursday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
 
The Tritons improve to 8-8 overall, including 4-4 in the GLVC and are now 6-0 in the Mark Twain Building this season. Missouri S&T slips to 4-12, including 0-8 in the league.
 
Junior Kelly Kunkel poured in a career-high 20 points, connecting on all seven field goal attempts, including both from three-point range, and all four free throw attempts, to lead four players in double figures. Kunkel also recorded seven rebounds, four steals and two assists.
 
Junior Amber Daly followed with 12 points, five steals and three assists, while senior Tierra Snow added 11 points. Senior Kelly McGovern chipped in 10 points and dished out a season-best eight assists.
 
The Tritons recorded 16 assists on 26 field goals and picked up 14 steals, owning a 26-11 advantage in points off turnovers. UMSL also held a 32-16 rebounding advantage and held Missouri S&T to 37 percent shooting in the game.
 
UMSL connected on its first seven field goals en route to a 68.2 first half shooting percentage and a 40-17 halftime lead. The 17 points by Missouri S&T were the second lowest allowed this season in a first half by the Tritons.
 
UMSL is back on the court Saturday, hosting No. 21 ranked Drury at 1 p.m.
