ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior
Miriam Taylor scored two goals and added an assist to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team to a 4-0 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over visiting Drury on Friday night.
The Tritons offensive attack came out firing, scoring three goals in the opening 12:33 of the game on Panthers goalie Tina Harberberger, the reigning GLVC and NSCAA DII National Player of the Week.
Taylor notched her first goal at the 3:12 mark when senior
Hunter Wagoner brought the ball down the left side and crossed it into Taylor, who faked Harberberger and went the opposite direction, easily putting the ball into the back left pocket of the goal.
Freshman
McKayla Harder made it 2-0 in the 12
th minute with her fifth goal of the year, putting the ball into the net after a pair of quick touches from senior
Sidney Allen and Taylor.
Harder and Taylor teamed up for the third goal with Taylor taking Harder's through ball and scoring her team-leading sixth goal of the season.
Sophomore
Emily Mosier gave the Tritons a 4-0 lead in the closing minutes of the first half, heading in junior
Taylor Tosovsky's corner kick.
UMSL improves to 5-1-2 overall, including 4-1-2 in the GLVC with its third straight win, while Drury slips to 5-2-2 and 4-2-1 in the league. The win marked the Tritons' first victory over the Panthers since the 2011 season.
UMSL outshot Drury, 18-11, including 11-4 in shots on goal. Senior
Megan Ohm made four saves in 76:44 in goal, including two impressive stops in the final 20 minutes, making a diving stop and moments later punching out a high shot to help preserve the shutout.
Taylor placed all three of her shots on goal, while Harder placed two on target. Wagoner also took three shots.
Drury entered the contest with four shutouts, having allowed just five goals all year. UMSL tallied its fourth shutout of the year and recorded its fourth game with four or more goals. The Tritons have now outscored their opponents, 23-4.
UMSL returns to the field on Sunday, hosting Missouri S&T at 12 p.m.
