SPRINGFIELD, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team won the opening set, but dropped a 3-1 decision at Drury on Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The Tritons took the first set 26-24, while the Panthers bounced back with set victories of 26-24, 25-19, 25-17. UMSL slips to 6-8 overall, including 2-3 in the GLVC, while Drury improves its ledger to 12-2 and 4-1 in the league.
Senior
Lindsay Meyer recorded her 3,000
th career assist in the loss, becoming the third player in program history to do so. She also becomes the second player in UMSL program history to record 3,000 career assists and 1,000 career digs.
Meyer finished the match with 18 assists and 14 digs.
Senior
Hannah Miller recorded 11 kills, hitting .321, while UMSL hit .101 as a team. Miller also tallied five blocks, while senior
Jessica Ploss finished with eight as UMSL tied a season-best 12 blocks.
The Panthers hit .169 and were led by BJ Specht's match-high 17 kills.
Also for UMSL, freshman
Olivia Gillum had 17 digs.
The Tritons are back in action tomorrow, playing at Missouri S&T in GLVC play at 11:30 a.m., before meeting Southern Arkansas at 3:45 p.m. in a nonconference match.
