Tyler Collico and junior
DJ Bednar scored two goals each to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team to a key 5-2 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Bellarmine on Friday night.
The Tritons netted a season-high goals and also got a score and an assist from senior
Jon Huelsman. UMSL improves to 7-6-2 overall, including 6-5-2 in the GLVC, while Bellarmine, which entered the game in second place in the GLVC standings, slips to 10-6 and 8-5 in the league and had a three-game win streak snapped.
UMSL scored four of its goals in the first half on a Bellarmine team which had allowed just five first half goals all season. Bednar scored in the fourth and 19
th minutes with assists to freshman

Evan Garrad, while Huelsman successfully converted a penalty kick in the 24
th minute for a 3-0 lead. Collico then netted his first goal of the game in the 25
th minute with Huelsman assisting on the play.
Bellarmine got on the board three minutes into the second half, but Collico kept it a four-goal game in the 68
th minute with the assist to senior
Connor Carnduff. The Knights added the final goal in the 81
st minute.
Bellarmine outshot the Tritons, 27-15, including 13-7 in shots on goal, but junior keeper
Jack Filla made seven saves, while playing 76:53 in goal. He allowed the first Knights goal, while sophomore
Jake Schmidt gave up the other score and registered four saves in the other 13:07 in goal.
Bednar placed all three shot attempts on goal, while Collico had two shots on goal in three attempts. Huelsman also took three shots.
UMSL will close out the home portion of its schedule on Sunday, hosting Southern Indiana at 2:30 p.m. Prior to the contest, the Tritons will honor their eight seniors.
