ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team closed out the regular season with a scoreless draw at Maryville on Wednesday afternoon.
A win would have guaranteed the Tritons a spot in the 2015 GLVC Tournament, but now UMSL will be forced to await the outcomes of other games around the league to determine its postseason fate. The Tritons finish the regular season with a 7-7-3 overall record, including a 6-6-3 GLVC mark.
UMSL held an 11-6 advantage in shots and placed five on goal, while Maryville put four on target, each one being saved by Tritons keeper
Jack Filla. Filla made three saves in the overtime periods after UMSL held the Saints without a shot attempt in the second half.
Sophomore
Nick Werner took three shots for UMSL, including one from point blank range at the end of the first overtime that was saved by Maryville goalie Christi Kjaersgaard.
