Hannah Perryman picked up her 59
th career victory, becoming the program's all-time wins leader, as the No. 5 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team recorded its 10
th straight win on Sunday with a 10-2 six-inning victory over Saginaw Valley at the D2 Midwest Region Dome Invitational, hosted by Lewis.
Perryman struck out a season-high 15 as the Tritons improve to 13-1.
Offensively, UMSL out-hit the Cardinals, 12-7, with senior
Katie Wood going 3-for-4 at the plate with an RBI and two runs scored. Freshman
Jennah Perryman added two hits and three RBIs, while sophomore
Sara Kern tallied two doubles and scored two runs
. Senior
Jena Boudreau added three RBIs on a double. The Tritons finished with five doubles as a team.
Saginaw Valley (2-3) put an early run on the board in the first inning with a solo homerun, while sophomore
Alex Stupek countered in the bottom of the frame with a long ball of her own.
Boudreau's three-run double made it 4-1 in the second, while two runs crossed the plate in the third, courtesy of a Kern double and a J. Perryman single. An RBI double from senior
Madison Zbaraschuk and a Wood RBI single extended the advantage to 8-1 in the fourth.
The Cardinals got one run back in the fifth, but J. Perryman's two-run single in the sixth ended the game on the run rule.
UMSL is scheduled to compete in the Teri Mathis-Zenner Memorial Tournament, hosted by Missouri Southern, in Joplin next Saturday and Sunday.
