ST. LOUIS, MO. – Sophomore
JJ Kinnevan delivered an RBI triple and scored the game-winning run as the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team improved to 9-0 for the first time in program history with a 2-1 win over Illinois Springfield on Thursday afternoon in a nonconference contest.
Kinnevan, who had one of the Tritons' two hits in the game, broke up UIS starter Gavin Collins' no-hitter in the sixth inning with a stand up triple that scored sophomore
Jake Beckwith, who led off the frame with a walk. Kinnevan then scored the go ahead run on junior
Justin Busekrus' sac fly to right field.

Daniel Seddon recorded the only other hit with a pinch hit single up the middle to lead off the eighth.

Alex Piontek garnered the win in three and one-thirds of an inning of relief work, scattering four hits and striking out two, junior
Austin Simokaitis recorded his fifth save of the inning, retiring the two batters he faced.
Sophomore
Andrew Bicklein went five innings in the start, scattering just two hits and allowing the one unearned run, while walking two and striking out two.
UMSL is back on the field tomorrow hosting defending NCAA DII national champion Southern Indiana at 2 p.m. in the start of a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference series.
