Pitching Keys Pair of Victories for No. 3 Tritons Over Visiting Missouri S&T on Senior Day

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The No. 3 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team received complete games from pitchers Brittni Chapman and Hannah Perryman as the Tritons defeated Missouri S&T twice on Saturday in Great Lakes Valley Conference play. UMSL won by scores of 4-2 and 3-0, extending its win streak to 15 games.
 
The Tritons improve to 33-3 overall, including 18-2 in the GLVC, while Missouri S&T slips to 5-24 and 2-18 in the league.
 
UMSL honored its seven seniors at the conclusion of the two contests, which includes Chapman, Jena Boudreau, Katie Wood, Brianna Butler, Madison Zbaraschuk, Hannah Wessels and Katie Rutledge. The group has posted a 150-49 record in four years, winning two GLVC Tournament championships and earning two NCAA Regional bids.
 
UMSL will close out its current homestand tomorrow with a Noon doubleheader against Drury.
 
GAME 1: UMSL 4, Missouri S&T 2
Butler went 2-for-3, including an RBI double in the first inning that gave the Tritons a 1-0 lead. UMSL then tacked on three runs in the fourth, including an RBI single from Boudreau, an RBI sac fly from Wood and on a wild pitch.
 
Chapman tossed the complete game victory, improving to 15-1, scattering seven hits on two runs, both of which came in the sixth inning on a single down the left field line. She also struck out two without issuing a walk.
 
UMSL tallied seven hits and first the first time in its last 10 games did not have a home run.
 
Game 2: UMSL 3, Missouri S&T 0
Perryman tossed the complete game one-hit shutout, her eighth of the season. Perryman also struck out 15, moving her career total to 996 strikeouts, and issued just one walk.
 
Rutledge accounted for two of UMSL's three hits, using a two-out single in the second to drive in the Tritons' first run before an RBI double in the fourth. Rutledge then scored the third run, also in the fourth inning, coming home on a Miners throwing error.
