RENSSELEAR, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team hit .394 and recorded 12 service aces en route to a 25-17, 25-14, 25-21 win at Saint Joseph's in the Great Lakes Valley Conference opener for both teams Friday night.
Freshman
Maddy Russell tallied nine kills in 12 attempts with no errors for a .750 hitting percentage and served up three aces, while fellow freshman
Olivia Gillum also had three aces and tallied a team-high seven digs.
The Tritons improve to 4-5 win the win, their third straight and fourth in the last five matches, while Saint Joseph's slips to 4-3 overall.
Senior
Lindsay Meyer dished out 15 assists, while junior
Lexi Rogers recorded seven kills with just one error in nine attacks. Rogers also had a pair of block assists to help UMSL to a 5-2 blocking advantage.
The Tritons wrap up a 10-game season-opening road swing tomorrow at Indianapolis.
