KENOSHA, WIS. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team finished in a 2-2 double overtime tie at Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference contest.
The Tritons saw a 2-1 lead erased on a Flyers goal with seven minutes 15 seconds to play in regulation that helped force the extra periods.
UMSL moves to 3-3-1 overall, including 2-2-1 in the GLVC, while UW-Parkside is also 3-3-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the league.
The Rangers got on the board first, scoring off a free kick in the 12
th minute, while the Tritons tied it at 1-1 in the 32
nd minute, also off a free kick. Junior
Nick Cherry found the back of the net for the first time this season with a header from senior
Jon Huelsman's free kick.
Senior
Tyler Collico gave UMSL a 2-1 advantage in the 74
th minute with his second goal of the season. Sophomore
Nick Werner had the ball at the top of the box and passed it ahead to a cutting Collico on the left side, who put it past Rangers keeper Remi Bibal.
UW-Parkside then scored the equalizer in the 83
rd minute off another free kick.
Both teams finished with 18 shots, including five on goal. Junior
DJ Bednar took five shots, while Collico placed two on goal. Junior
Jack Filla played all 110 in goal and made three saves.
UMSL returns to action on Sunday, traveling to Lewis.
