ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team hit .367 en route to a 25-18, 25-20, 25-14 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory over Wisconsin-Parkside on Friday night in the Tritons' home opener.
UMSL improves to 5-6 overall, including 2-1 in the GLVC, while UW-Parkside slips to 7-5 and 1-2 in the league.
Sophomore
Gina Pezze recorded a match-high 11 kills, while senior
Hannah Miller added eight kills.
The Tritons also put up 11 blocks, including six from senior
Jessica Ploss, who added six kills in nine attempts with no errors for a .667 attack percentage. Junior
Lexi Rogers added four blocks and seven kills.
UMSL hit .400 in the first set behind 18 kills, including five from Pezze. The Tritons also tallied four blocks in each of the first two sets.
An 8-0 run in the third set helped UMSL to 13-6 lead en route to the win.
Senior
Lindsay Meyer dished out 21 assists and recorded nine digs, while freshman
Alivia Brinker tallied 15 digs.
The Tritons continue their three-match homestand tomorrow, hosting GLVC East Division leader Lewis at 3 p.m.
