Volleyball Rallies to Defeat Lake Erie in Five After Falling to Findlay in Five

AURORA, ILL., October 15, 2016 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team suffered a five-set loss to Findlay on Saturday morning at the Midwest Regional Crossover Tournament, but bounced back for a five-set victory over Lake Erie after trailing two sets to none.
 
The Tritons are now 12-7 on the season.
 
Findlay 3, UMSL 2 (25-13, 22-25, 18-25, 25-14, 15-7)
Match Highlights
-UMSL hit .322 in the two sets they won and just .015 in the three they lost.
-Senior Gaylnn Jones recorded seven kills in eight attempts in the third set victory, while sophomore Kristen Uradzionek tallied four blocks.
-As a team, Findlay hit .600 in the fifth set with six kills and no errors in 10 attempts.
-UMSL lost in five sets for the first time this season.
 
Inside the Box Score
-UMSL hit .167 in the match, while Findlay hit .260 and held a 14-8 advantage in blocks.
-The Tritons were led by freshman Selena Nolte's 12 kills, while freshman Kylie Rudsinski finished with 11.
-Jones finished with nine kills and 13 digs, while junior Danielle Waedekin tallied 17 digs.
-Uradzionek tallied six blocks.
-Junior Madyson Abeyta dished out 24 assists, while sophomore Kayla Shane had 16.
 
UMSL 3, Lake Erie 2 (22-25, 28-30, 27-25, 28-26, 18-16)
Match Highlights
-UMSL has played 12 extra point sets this season.
-UMSL led 12-6 early in the first set before Lake Erie rallied to tie it at 17-17. The Storm then took their first lead at 23-22.
-A pair of back-to-back kills gave Lake Erie set point in the second frame at 24-23, but the Tritons got a kill from Jones and a block from Rudsinski to take set point at 25-24. UMSL had two more set points before three straight from the Storm ended it.
-Senior Lexi Rogers had a kill and a service ace in the third set to help pull the Tritons within 18-17 after trailing by four. UMSL later used a 5-1 run to go ahead 24-23, which included a pair of Jones kills.
-UMSL jumped out to a 14-8 lead in the fourth set before extending it to 16-10 on an Amanda Vollmer kills. Lake Erie then rallied back to tie it at 20-20, using stretches of four straight and five straight points. The Storm pulled ahead at 23-22 on a service ace and both teams had two set points before UMSL put the frame away on a block from Rogers and Rudsinski.
-The Tritons jumped out to an 8-1 lead in the fifth set before fending off Lake Erie.
 
Inside the Box Score
-Jones recorded her first double-double behind season-bests of 21 kills and 24 digs, while Nolte followed with 17 kills.
-Both setters recorded a double-double with Abeyta recording 38 assists and 12 digs, while freshman Kendall Buchman posted 33 assists and 15 digs.
-Waedekin surpassed 30 digs for the third time this season, finishing with a career-best 39
-Vollmer recorded 10 kills and five blocks, while Rudsinski added 13 kills and four blocks. Rogers gave UMSL five players in double figure kills with 11
-UMSL hit .240 with 83 kills, while Lake Erie hit .207 with 75 kills.
