Hitting Woes Hamper Volleyball in 3-1 Loss at Illinois Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team hit just .084 a 3-1 Great Lakes Valley Conference loss at Illinois Springfield Friday night. The Prairie Stars won by set scores of 25-17, 25-20-, 20-25, 25-22.
 
The loss drops the Tritons to 13-9 overall, including 7-5 in the GLVC, while UIS moves its ledger to 8-17 and 1-11 in the league with its first conference win of the season.  
 
Match Highlights
- Junior Madyson Abeyta recorded two aces and a kill to help the Tritons to a 6-1 run to end the third set victory, in which UMSL erased a pair of four-point deficits earlier.
-The Tritons pulled within 23-22 in the fourth set after trailing 20-14.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Freshman Selena Nolte recorded 10 kills, hitting .318, while junior Gina Pezze followed with nine kills.
- Abeyta finished with 19 assists and three service aces, while freshman Kendall Buchman also dished out 19 assists.
- Junior Danielle Waedekin registered 13 digs.
- Illinois Springfield held a 13-10 advantage in blocks. Freshman Kylie Rudsinski (five) and senior Lexi Rogers (four) led UMSL in that category.
