Volleyball Uses Strong Blocking to Down the Knights on Senior Day

ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team out-blocked visiting Bellarmine, 12-2, on Saturday afternoon en route to a 25-23, 25-17, 25-19 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory.
 
The Tritons also celebrated Senior Day, recognizing graduating players Lexi Rogers, Gaylnn Jones and Samantha Lewis prior to the contest. All three then played a role in helping their team improve to 15-11 overall, including 9-6 in the GLVC.
 
Bellarmine slips to 18-10, 7-8 in the league with the loss.
 
Match Highlights
- UMSL used a 5-0 block advantage in the first set to garner the win as the Tritons finished with just 10 kills, hitting .163. The Knights tallied 13 kills, but also had 13 errors.
- The Tritons tallied 17 kills, while hitting .325, in the second set. Freshman Selena Nolte registered a kill in all three swings and added three blocks.
- UMSL scored six straight, receiving two kills and a block from freshman Kylie Rudsinski, to turn a 7-5 deficit into an 11-7 lead they would not relinquish in the third set.
 
Inside the Box Score
- Rudsinski finished with 10 kills and added three blocks, while Childers followed with nine kills.
- Nolte posted a team-best seven blocks, while Rogers finished with six. Sophomore Kristen Uradzionek recorded five blocks.
- Freshman Kendall Buchman registered her third double-double with 14 assists and 13 digs, while junior Madyson Abeyta had 13 assists.
- Jones picked up a team-high 14 digs.
- For Bellarmine, libero Jordyn Kuchenbrod recorded 40 digs, including 19 in the first set.
