ST. LOUIS, MO. – The No. 7 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team opened its Great Lakes Valley Conference schedule Friday afternoon with a sweep of Wisconsin-Parkside, winning by scores of 1-0 and 3-1.

Senior Hannah Perryman won both games in the circle, allowing a combined four hits to the Rangers, while striking out 31.

UMSL improves to 20-1 overall, including 2-0 in league play, while UW-Parkside is now 3-15 and 0-2 in the GLVC.

The Tritons will host Lewis tomorrow at 12 p.m.

GAME 1: UMSL 1, UW-Parkside 0
Senior Hannah Perryman stuck out 17 batters while tossing her 11th shutout of the year. Perryman allowed just two hits and did not issue any walks. She allowed a double to the second batter she faced and then retired the next 14, including 12 via the strikeout, before Paige Schmitling led off the sixth inning with a bunt single. However, she was stranded at first as Perryman retired the side.

The Tritons' offense was limited to just three hits, including an RBI single from redshirt freshman Alicia Shivers that accounted for the lone score of the game.

Redshirt sophomore Rachel Matthies and junior Alex Stupek led off the sixth inning with a single and a double, respectively and the Tritons later loaded the bases with two outs, but couldn't get any insurance runs across the plate.

UMSL stranded six runners on the bases in the game.

GAME 2: UMSL 3, UW-Parkside 1
The Tritons jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning, the first coming on a home run from senior Erin Walker, the first of her collegiate softball career after playing four years of college volleyball, including the past two at UMSL. Junior Sara Kern later drove in Stupek who reached on a single before stealing second and third.

Sophomore Jennah Perryman extended the lead to 3-0 in the fourth inning with her sixth home run of the season.

A pair of doubles by the Rangers put the guests on the board in the sixth inning.

Perryman recorded the two-hit complete game victory, improving to 16-1 overall, while also winning her 99th career game. She struck out 14 and issued one walk.
