CLEARWATER, FLA. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball recorded a season-high 29 hits en route to a 35-10 victory over Cedarville on Wednesday afternoon. The Tritons came up one run shy of equaling the school record for runs in a game.
UMSL had eight different players finish with multiple hits, including seniors
Justin Busekrus and
Jose Ortiz, who each recorded four hits, six RBIs and five runs scored. Senior
Dominic Orlando also tallied four hits, including a pair of doubles. The Tritons tallied 10 extra base hits, including nine doubles.
In addition to the 29 hits, UMSL was issued 17 free passes to the bases, including 15 via walks.
The Tritons improves to 7-1 overall, while Cedarville falls to 2-3.
Senior
Kurt McGuire improved to 2-0 on the mound. He gave up seven runs, including just two earned, on 11 hits.
UMSL is back on the field tomorrow at 11 a.m. (EST) against Upper Iowa.
