ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team saw visiting Rockhurst rally in the final inning in both games en route to a pair of victories on Sunday as the two teams wrapped up a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference series. The Hawks took the opener, 4-3, and the nightcap, 3-1.
Rockhurst combined to score four runs on nine hits in the final inning of the two games.
UMSL dips to 22-13 overall, including 6-10 in the GLVC, while Rockhurst is now 19-18 and 10-6 in the league.
The Tritons return to the filed on Tuesday, hosting Indianapolis in a single game at Noon.
GAME 1: Rockhurst 4, UMSL 3Rockhurst rallied for the win in the top of the seventh, tagging senior closer
Austin Simokaitis for two runs on four hits. Simokaitis was charged with his first loss of the year after 12 successful saves.
Junior
Jake Beckwith led off the bottom of the seventh with a single and was sacrificed to second, but the Hawks retired the next two to end the game.
Freshman
Tom DeCero went 3-for-4 at the plate with a single, a triple and a home run and added two RBIs and two runs. His home run was a two-run shot in the fifth inning that gave UMSL a 3-2 lead, while he scored the game's first run in the first inning, coming home on junior
Tanner Hudson's RBI single. The lead held until the fourth inning when Rockhurst pulled ahead 2-1.
The Hawks out-hit UMSL, 9-8.
Senior
Kyle Wilson went six innings in the no-decision start, allowing two runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out two.
GAME 2: Rockhurst 3, UMSL 1The Hawks scored three unanswered runs en route to the win, including two on five hits in the ninth inning.

The Tritons offense was limited to three hits.
