ST. CHARLES, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team swept Georgian Court, but lost a 3-1 decision to Northwest Missouri State on Friday as the Tritons opened the 2016 season at the Lindenwood Tournament.

Match Highlights
-UMSL raced out to a quick 7-0 start in the first set with freshman
Selena Nolte recording three kills. Nolte finished with eight in the opening frame, while the Tritons racked up 21 as a team, hitting .714.
-The Tritons scored six straight late in the second half to turn a 15-11lead into a 22-11 cushion.
-The third set saw UMSL with an early 6-1 lead with senior
Lexi Rogers putting down a pair of kills. The lead grew to 20-13 before a 4-1 run by the Lions made it a 21-17 game.

-UMSL hit .516 with 53 kills, while Georgian Court hit .122 with 21 kills.
-Nolte recorded 16 kills in her collegiate debut, hitting .625, while junior
Gina Pezze added 10 kills, hitting .562. Pezze also added 13 digs for her first double-double.

Match Highlights
-The Bearcats used a 6-1 run midway through the first set to take a 17-9 lead and limited the Tritons to .059 hitting.
-UMSL outblocked Northwest Missouri State, 4-0, in the second frame with sophomore
Kristen Uradzionek recording three block assists.
-Northwest Missouri State hit .371 in the third set, which included a string of eight unanswered points.
-UMSL trailed 13-6 to start the fourth set, but reeled off seven unanswered to knot the score at 13-13 before the Bearcats scored the final five points of the match to break the 20-20 tie.

-Pezze finished with nine kills and 13 digs, while Nolte tallied eight kills.
