Men's Soccer Battles No. 3 Rockhurst to Scoreless Draw

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Reigning GLVC Defensive Player of the Week Jack Filla made six saves Friday night to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's soccer team to a double overtime scoreless draw against No. 3 ranked Rockhurst Friday night in league play.

UMSL moves to 5-1-1 overall, including 4-0-1 in the GLVC, while extending its unbeaten streak to six games. Rockhurst is now 6-0-1 and 4-0-1 in the conference. The two teams entered the night with Drury as the league's three undefeated teams. Drury secured a 3-2 win over Truman State to move into sole possession of first place in the standings, while Rockhurst and UMSL are now tied for second.

Rockhurst outshot the Tritons, 13-8, including a 6-1 edge in shots on goal, and had nine corner kicks to UMSL's three.

Sophomore Dom Barczewski had two shots, including a header midway through the first overtime off a set piece that went just outside the post. Junior Nick Werner also took two shots, landing one on goal.

Defensively, Filla controlled the area between the posts, stopping several goal attempts by the Hawks.

UMSL will close out its current four-game homestand on Sunday, hosting William Jewell at 2:30 p.m.
