ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior
Sammie Spoul scored a season-high 11 points to help lead the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 57-47 victory over Quincy on Thursday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
The Tritons, which held their sixth opponent to under 55 points this season, snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 8-8 overall, including 3-5 in the GLVC. Quincy dips to 4-14 and 1-7 in the league.

Laura Szorenyi scored a game-high 20 points, knocking down 6-of-12 field goals and 7-of-8 free throws.

Chelsey Jacox added nine points and a team-best six rebounds off the bench.

Robneisha Lee collected four steals as Quincy turned the ball over 16 times, leading to 18 Triton points on the other end.
-UMSL shot 35.8 percent and owned a 36-32 rebounding advantage, while Quincy shot 38.3 percent.
How it Happened
UMSL took a 35-25 lead into halftime, ending the second quarter on a 12-6 run, which featured three Sproul three-pointers. The Tritons, who held a 12-11 advantage after the first quarter, outscored the Hawks, 23-14, over the next 10 minutes.
UMSL upped its lead to 42-27 midway through the third quarter and held a 44-34 lead heading into the final frame. Both teams scored just nine points in the third quarter.
Quincy trimmed its deficit to single digits four times in the fourth quarter, including 46-39 with 7:09 to play, but the Tritons responded with eight unanswered, including four from Szorenyi.
