Fletcher's 20-20 Helps Tritons Down Truman State

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Junior Jordan Fletcher exploded for 27 points and 20 rebounds to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 67-58 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory Saturday afternoon.

Fletcher's 20 rebounds equal the program's single-game third most and is a GLVC single-game high this season. She pulled down six boards on the offensive end and 14 on the defensive end, while also blocking three shots and finishing 11-of-18 from the floor in 35 minutes.

The Tritons improve to 9-8 overall, including 4-5 in the GLVC with their second straight win. The win also marked the second of the year over Truman State as UMSL won in Kirksville, Mo., 80-70, on December 19 in a non-conference game. The Bulldogs slip to 9-9 and 4-5 in the league.

Numbers of Note
-Sophomore Laura Szorenyi added 15 points, four assists and two steals, while senior Sydney Bloch finished with a season-high 11 points off the bench, knocking down 3-of-4 field goals and 5-of-6 free throws. Bloch added four rebounds and three assists.

-UMSL finished with a season-low 10 turnovers, including just four over the final three quarters.

-The Tritons shot 42.6 percent and held a 35-33 rebounding advantage. Senior Robneisha Lee added six rebounds, four assists and two steals. Truman State shot at a 36.4 percent and was limited to 15.4 percent shooting in the third quarter.

-UMSL outscored Truman, 34-18, in points in the paint.

How it Happened
UMSL overcame a slow start in which Truman State owned a 15-point first quarter lead as the Tritons committed six turnovers in that frame.

The comeback started in the second quarter in which UMSL outscored the Bulldogs, 18-9, to pull within 35-31 at the break. Fletcher had nine of those points, netting all four field goal attempts.

The Tritons then outscored Truman, 17-7, in the third quarter, using an 11-0 run to take a lead it would not relinquish en route to a 48-42 advantage at the end of the frame.

A layup by Fletcher with 7:27 to play in the fourth quarter equaled UMSL's largest lead at 53-44, but the Bulldogs followed with a 12-3 run over the next four minutes to knot the score at 56-56. However, Fletcher scored the next seven for UMSL and the Bulldogs would get no closer.
