ST. LOUIS, MO. – Trailing by seven with 1:14 to play in regulation, the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team rallied to force overtime, but came up short in an 86-82 loss to Great Lakes Valley Conference West Division leader Truman State on Saturday afternoon.
The Tritons fall to 9-10 overall, including 3-6 in the GLVC, while Truman State moves its ledger to 15-4, 7-2 in the league.

Steven Davis knocked down eight three-pointers for a game-high 24 points. Those eight treys equaled his season-best, one short of the single game school record. It was the eighth time this season Davis has had four or more three-pointers in a game.

Elijah Watson equaled a season-best with 18 points. He scored eight of those in the final 1:14, including two free throws with 0.5 seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime. Watson also tallied five assists.

D.J. White chipped in 10 points and pulled down six rebounds.

Hunter Reine pulled down a team-best 15 rebounds to go with seven points, two assists and two blocks.
-UMSL out-rebounded Truman State, 41-35 and shot 48.3 percent to the Bulldogs' 44.6 percent.
-Davis helped UMSL to 12-of-21 from three-point range, while Truman was 13-of-29.
-UMSL was plagued by 22 turnovers as Truman took advantage, outscoring the Tritons, 27-8, in points off turnovers.
How it Happened
Truman State owned a 30-27 lead at the half. The Bulldogs opened with an 18-8 advantage midway through the first stanza before UMSL followed with a 10-3 run to pull within 21-20 on a layup by senior
Alex Majewski with 4:26 to go.
UMSL made four of its first six field goals to open the second half for a 38-37 lead on a three-pointer by junior
Drew Skaggs, but Truman followed with a 17-3 run for a 54-41 advantage with 8:37 to play.
Watson drained a pair of three-pointers in a span of 41 seconds to pull the Tritons within 67-66 with 33 seconds to play. Both teams then struggled at the free throw line with Truman making just one of four, while Reine missed two with seven seconds to play. Following the Bulldogs' make, which came with five seconds to go, Watson drove to the basket and was fouled.
Reine gave UMSL a 70-68 lead to open the extra period, but Truman followed with back-to-back three-pointers to fend off the Tritons.
Davis knocked in his eighth three-pointer with six seconds to play to make it an 84-82 game, but Truman's Jake Velky was 4-for-4 at the line in the final nine seconds to help preserve the win.
