Selena Nolte recorded a career-high 24 kills as the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team fended off visiting Truman State in five sets Saturday afternoon in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

Danielle Waedekin recorded 26 digs and picked up the 1,000
th of her career early in the first set.
The win was the fifth straight for the Tritons and the second five-set win over Truman State this season, as UMSL defeated the Bulldogs in non-conference play at the Lindenwood Last Minute Challenge.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- UMSL owned a 20-12 lead in the first set, but saw the Bulldogs rally to tie it at 21-21 as the Tritons committed five hitting errors during that stretch, three of which were blocks by Truman.
- The Tritons hit .275 in the second set with six kills each from sophomores
Maddy Russell and
Selena Nolte.
- A 6-1 run by the Tritons early in the third set helped UMSL to a 12-7 advantage with Nolte recording three kills during that run. Junior
Alex Miner finished the frame with five kills in eight swings with no errors.
- UMSL had 16 kills to Truman's 11 in the fourth set, but the Bulldogs had just two errors, while the Tritons committed nine.
- UMSL jumped out to a 7-3 lead in the fifth set with Miner behind the service line. Truman pulled within 9-7 after the teams switched sides, but three of the next four points went to the Tritons.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- Russell added 18 kills and 14 digs for her fourth straight double-double, while sophomore
Kylie Rudsinski added 14 kills. Miner also finished in double digits with 11 kills to go with a team-best three blocks.
- Senior
Madyson Abeyta dished out 35 assists to help UMSL to a .215 hitting percentage.
- Truman State held a 10-5 advantage in blocks and hit .170.
