Women's Basketball Powers Past Culver Stockton in Second Half

CANTON, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team held host Culver Stockton to just nine points in the second half en route to recording a 68-30 victory Saturday afternoon.
 
Senior Jordan Fletcher picked up her first double-double of the season and the 11th of her career with 11 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Tritons, which were coming off an eight-day layoff for final exams, while also recording three blocks.

How it Happened
The Tritons clung to a 23-21 halftime lead after trailing 15-12 following the completion of the first quarter, but outscored the Wildcats, 16-5, during the third quarter.
 
UMSL held Culver Stockton to 14.3 percent shooting from the field over the final 20 minutes, while connecting at a 48.4 percent mark after shooting just 32.2 percent in the first half. The Tritons also forced 14 turnovers in the second half, while committing just three.
 
Numbers of Note
- Senior Shawnta Johnson scored a game-high 13 points and dished out six assists, while junior Arielle Jackson also reached double figures with 11.
- Senior Sammie Sproul added eight points to go with a career-high nine rebounds, five assists and three steals.
- UMSL took advantage of 27 Culver Stockton turnovers, scoring 26 points on the other end.
- The Tritons held a 41-38 rebounding advantage.
