Elijah Watson scored a team-high 21 points and added six assists, five rebounds and two steals to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team to a 77-74 upset victory over previously unbeaten and No. 20 ranked William Jewell.

Johnathan Matthews went made all four of his free throw attempts in the final 11 seconds to help seal the game, including two with 0.9 seconds on the clock, after William Jewell had cut it to one at 75-74.

How it Happened
The two teams went into halftime knotted at 40-all. The Cardinals outscored the Tritons, 21-8, over the final 7:11, erasing UMSL's 13-point lead. A string of 10 unanswered capped with back-to-back three-pointers from freshman

Johnathan Matthews gave UMSL its first double-digit lead at 22-11 with 11:25 on the clock. A jumper by junior
Davious Webster later made it a 32-19 with 7:41 to play, while William Jewell followed with seven straight.
The first 13 minutes of the second half featured eight ties and eight lead changes. William Jewell took its largest lead of the half at 64-61 with 8:13 to play, but back-to-back three-pointers from freshman
Anthony Hughes and Webster swung the lead back in favor of the Tritons, 67-64. The Cardinals got within one point five different times, including twice in the final 23 seconds.

- Grubbs scored a season-best 12 points, finishing 5-of-8 from the field after making his first five. He also pulled down six rebounds.

Steven Davis added 10 points each.
- UMSL shot 48.4 percent, while William Jewell connected at a 45.6 percent clip and held a 37-33 rebounding advantage.
- The Cardinals were led by Pharroh Gordon's 17 points and 14 rebounds, while the GLVC's leading scorer, Patrick Whelan, was held to seven points on 3-of-13 shooting.
