BENTONVILLE, ARK. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team bounced back from a 2-1 loss to Harding to post a 2-1 victory over Henderson State on Friday as the Tritons opened play in the Arkansas-Monticello DII Challenge.
The Tritons are now 4-4 on the season.
GAME 1: Harding 2, UMSL 1
How it Happened
-Harding (3-0) broke a 1-1 game with a two-out solo home run in the top of the sixth for the eventual game-winner.
-UMSL put the leadoff hitter on base in four innings, including the third in which they left the bases loaded. The Tritons also got their first two batters on board in the seventh inning with no outs.
-Both teams scored in the third inning. UMSL's run came as senior
Sara Kern was hit by the pitch with the bases loaded. Sophomore
Carly Kingery scored the frame after leading off with a single, while junior
Jennah Perryman followed with a double.
KEY STATS
-Kingery and senior
Erin Walker each had two hits.
-Kingery took the loss in the circle in the complete game effort. She struck out three and allowed two runs, including one unearned, on five hits.
GAME 2: UMSL 2, Henderson State 1
How it Happened
-A two-run triple in the fourth inning by sophomore
Serena Olson provided for UMSL's two runs, while Henderson State (2-4) got on the board in the fifth inning with an unearned run.
KEY STATS
-UMSL outhit the Reddies, 5-2, with Olson recording two of those hits.
-Freshman
Andee Tiffee picked up her first collegiate win, tossing the complete two-hit game. She struck out four and walked four.

UMSL faces No. 11 Arkansas Tech and Arkansas-Monticello tomorrow at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., respectively.
