BENTONVILLE, ARK. – The No. 24 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team had a seven-game win streak snapped with a 9-7 loss to Emporia State on Sunday, but the Tritons bounced back to record a 9-0 six-inning victory over Nebraska-Kearney on the final day of the Arkansas-Monticello 8-State Classic.
UMSL is now 11-5 overall.
GAME 1: Emporia State 9, UMSL 7
How it Happened
-The Hornets won the game with a walk-off grand slam, erasing an early UMSL 6-0 lead.
-Freshman
Annie Kroeger helped the Tritons to the early lead with a grand slam of her own in the second inning to cap a six-run, three-hit frame.
-Emporia State (10-8) then reeled off five unanswered runs over the next three frames, three of which were unearned, to pull within 6-5.
-Senior
Alex Stupek belted her fourth home run of the season to lead off the seventh before a walk, a single, a walk and the home run by the Hornets ended the game in the bottom half of the inning.
KEY STATS
-UMSL was tagged with five errors, while both teams recorded seven hits.
-The Tritons had four extra bag hits, including two from Stupek, who added a double and finished 3-for-4 at the plate, scoring two runs.
-Sophomore
Carly Kingery earned the start and went four innings before leaving after taking a cleat to her shin. She allowed four runs, including two earned, on three hits, walked one and struck out three.
-Freshman
Andee Tiffee suffered the loss in relief.

Ryan Logan put UMSL on the board in the second inning with a two-run single and made it 7-0 in the fifth with a two-run double. Senior
Erin Walker added a two-run double in the fifth.
-Sophomore
Reagan Osborn tallied an RBI single in the fourth for a 3-0 lead, while sophomore
Serena Olson's two-run triple accounted for the final score in the sixth.
KEY STATS
-Olson finished 3-for-4 at the plate with two doubles, two RBI and two runs scored.
-Logan was 2-for-2 with four RBI and added a walk.
-Walker tallied two hits, two RBI and scored two runs.
-UMSL recorded 10 hits, including five for extra base.
-Freshman
CoCo Caraway improved to 2-0 in the circle with the complete game shutout, allowing just four hits.

UMSL is idle until March 4-8 when the Tritons travel to Clermont, Fla., for the NTC Spring Games where they will play eight games.
