EVANSVILLE, IND. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team lost its season opener on Saturday, 13-6, to No. 24 ranked Indianapolis at the Dunn Hospitality Invitational, hosted by Southern Indiana.
How it Happened
- A combined seven runs were scored in the first inning with the Tritons jumping out to a 4-0 lead, thanks in part to six walks and a Greyhounds error. All four runs came with two outs. However, UIndy countered with three runs in the bottom of the frame which was the start of eight unanswered that put the Greyhounds on top, 8-4, after four innings.
- Junior
Cooper Vinz led off the fifth inning with a single and later scampered home on a passed ball to cut the lead to 8-5, but a four-run sixth by UIndy quickly made it 12-5.
- An RBI groundout by Vinz in the ninth accounted for UMSL's final run.
