GULF SHORES, ALA. – The No. 22 ranked University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team scored 19 runs in 10 innings of play on Saturday en route to two victories at the Gulf Coast Invitational.
The Tritons (3-1) defeated Miles College, 9-1, and Barry, 10-1, both in five-inning shortened games.
Senior
Alex Stupek became the program's all-time career leader in runs scored in the second game and has now crossed the plate 139 times, passing Jena Boudreau (2012-15) who scored 138 career runs.
GAME 1: UMSL 9, Miles College 1 (5 inn.)
HIGHLIGHTS
-UMSL recorded nine hits, including five extra base hits, four of which were triples.
-The Tritons jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning and added single runs in the second and third frames before crossing the plate three times in the fifth.
-Sophomore
Reagan Osborn tallied four RBI, driving in one with a double in the second inning to make it 5-0 and ended the game in the fifth with a three-run triple.
-Junior
Rachel Matthies also recorded an RBI triple, while junior
Jennah Perryman added a triple and scored two runs.
-Freshman
CoCo Caraway picked up her first collegiate win in the circle, working four innings. She scattered five hits and allowed the lone run.
-Sophomore
Carly Kingery threw the final inning, striking out two of the three batters she faced.
GAME 2: UMSL 10, Barry 1 (5 inn.)
HIGHLIGHTS
-Junior
Jennah Perryman recorded two hits and four RBIs, driving in three runs with her first home run of the season in the third inning to make it a 9-1 contest.
-UMSL used a five-run first inning, which included an RBI double from senior
Sara Kern, a two-run double from Stupek and an RBI single from Perryman. The Tritons sent 10 batters to the plate in that frame, recording four hits and drawing a pair of walks.
-The Tritons tallied eight hits, with Kern also recording two hits.
-Kingery improved to 2-0 in the circle, allowing just one run on four hits in four innings, while striking out five.
NOTABLES
-Perryman's long ball was the 26
th of her career, putting her in a tie for sixth most in program history.
