CLERMONT, FL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team picked up two wins on Sunday at the PFX Games in Florida, defeating Winona State, 2-1, and the University of Mary, 4-0.
UMSL improves to 14-6 overall.
GAME 1: UMSL 2, Winona State 1
How it Happened
-Sophomore
Serena Olson scored both runs. She led off the fourth inning with a single and came home on a one-out RBI single from senior
Erin Walker. Olson then led off the sixth inning with a walk and after being sacrificed to second by senior
Alex Stupek, came home on senior
Sara Kern's two-out double.
-The Warriors (8-2) led off the bottom of the seventh with a double and later scored on a bases loaded walk. Sophomore pitcher
Carly Kingery then retired three straight with the bases loaded to get out of the jam.
-Winona State left nine runners on base, including runners at third on in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings.
KEY STATS
-Kern had two of UMSL's five hits.
-Kingery tossed the complete game three-hitter and overcame a season-high four walks.
GAME 2: UMSL 4, Mary 0
How it Happened
-UMSL used three consecutive hits in the third inning to plate its first run. Senior
Ryan Logan doubled with one out and before scoring on junior
Rachel Matthies' single.
-Sophomore
Reagan Osborn scampered home in the fifth inning to make it 2-0 with sophomore
Serena Olson being credited with the RBI on the Marauders (4-15) fielding error.
-Freshman
Annie Kroeger knocked out the fourth long ball of her rookie campaign in the sixth to extend the lead to 3-0, while Olson delivered her team-leading seventh long ball in the seventh inning for the final score.
-Freshman pitcher
Andee Tiffee walked the first two batters she faced and gave up a single, but then retired 12 straight before allowing a one-out single in the fifth.
KEY STATS
-Matthies finished 3-for-4 at the plate, while Osborn and Olson added two hits each.
-Tiffee tossed the complete game four-hit shutout, striking out four and walking three.
-UMSL finished with 10 hits.

After an off day tomorrow, the Tritons will play two on Tuesday, including 10:30 a.m. (EST) against Walsh and No. 7 ranked Grand Valley State at 1 p.m. (EST).
