CLEARWATER, FLA. - Freshman
Derrick Freeman recorded four RBIs on Wednesday to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team to a 17-6 victory over Oakland City.
It was the second straight win for the Tritons, who improve to 2-6 overall.
UMSL tallied 11 hits in the win and also took advantage of four Oaks errors and eight walks.
The Tritons crossed home plate six times in the second inning despite delivering just one hit - an RBI single from junior
Cooper Vinz.
A seven-hit, eight-run fourth frame extended the advantage to 15-5. Senior
Nick Ulrey had two RBI singles in that frame as UMSL sent 12 batters to the plate.
Ulrey finished with three RBI, while junior
Chris Mathes scored three runs, drawing three walks and reaching on an error. Vinz also scored three runs, while sophomore
Tom DeCero and junior
Jake Morsch each added two hits, two RBIs and two runs scored.
Freshman
Ryan Clavin earned his first collegiate victory, tossing three and one-thirds scoreless innings.
UMSL is back on the field tomorrow at 2 p.m. (EST) against Minnesota-Crookston.
