Softball Shuts Out Drury Twice in Sweep

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Senior Alex Stupek was 5-for-7 at the plate with four RBI, helping the University of Missouri-St. Louis softball team to a GLVC doubleheader sweep of Drury on Saturday afternoon with wins of 2-0 and 10-0.
 
The Tritons out-hit the Panthers, 16-6, to improve to 31-12 overall, including 14-6 in the GLVC. Drury slips to 18-27 and 6-16 in the league.

Game Highlights
- After six and a half scoreless innings that saw just a combined five hits between the two teams, UMSL got on the board in the bottom of the sixth, stringing together three consecutive hits. Redshirt freshman Morgan Hill doubled to right field, while sophomore Serena Olson took a 2-2 pitch off the fence to make it 1-0. Stupek then followed with an RBI single up the middle.
 
Statistically Speaking
- Freshman CoCo Caraway improved to 7-2 with the complete game four-hit shutout, her third of the year.
- UMSL finished with six hits, including two from Stupek.

Game Highlights
- UMSL jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning, which included a solo home run from senior Erin Walker and a two-run single from senior Sara Kern.
 
-Back-to-back doubles from Hill and Olson made it 7-0 in the second and then after three quiet frames, Stupek ended the game with a three-run home run.
 
Statistically Speaking
- Freshman Andee Tiffee earned the win in the circle, working four innings in relief. Tiffee allowed a lead-off single in the third, but retired 12 straight, including eight via a strikeout.
- Sophomore Carly Kingery, who tossed two complete games yesterday, started for the Tritons, tossing two scoreless innings, allowing just one hit.
- Stupek finished 3-for-4 at the plate with three RBIs and two runs scored, while Olson added two hits and scored two runs. Hill also scored two runs.
- UMSL totaled 10 hits.
 
Triton Tidbits
- UMSL has won six straight.
- Stupek is now at 49 career home runs, one shy of tying the program record. She also has 165 career RBIs, five short of tying that program record.

UMSL will travel to Indianapolis and Saint Joseph's next Saturday and Sunday.
