LEBANON, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team saw its three-game win streak snapped on Tuesday with a 14-10 loss at McKendree in non-conference play.
Both teams totaled 14 hits. UMSL slips to 13-21, while the Bearcats improve to 12-25.
McKendree jumped out to a 5-1 lead after the first frame and built it to 11-4 after five innings before the Tritons staged a small rally with four runs on three hits, including an RBI double from senior
Jake Beckwith and an RBI groundout from junior
Cooper Vinz that cut the deficit to 11-8.
Sophomore
Tom DeCero's RBI double in the seventh made it 12-9, but UMSL would get no closer.
Beckwith finished 3-for-5 at the plate and scored three runs, while DeCero was 2-for-2 with a double, two walks, two RBI and two runs scored. Senior
Nick Ulrey and junior
Jake Morsch each added two hits.
UMSL returns home this Saturday and Sunday, hosting Truman State in a four-game GLVC series.
