Volleyball Rallies For Five-Set Win at Quincy

QUINCY, ILL. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team rallied from a two-set deficit on Tuesday night to defeat Quincy, 3-2, in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
 
Sophomore Kylie Rudsinski pounded a career-best 21 kills, while hitting .439, while senior Danielle Waedekin finished with 23 digs, 10 assists and two aces.

MATCH HIGHLIGHTS
- UMSL hit just .012 combined in the first two sets and hit .228 in the final three, including .474 in the fifth set.
- The Tritons took their largest lead of the third set at 21-17 while a service error by the Hawks gave them set point. However, Quincy equaled the score at 24-24 before taking a 25-24 lead on an UMSL attack error. A kill from Rudsinkski and an ace from Waedekin made it 26-25.
- A 6-1 run in the fourth set helped UMSL to a 16-10 lead before a Rudsinski kill made it 24-16. The Hawks then reeled on four unanswered, including two on back-to-back service aces before another Rudsinski kill ended the set.
- In the fifth, after Quincy pulled within 6-4, the Tritons finished the match with a 9-1 run, scoring seven of those points on kills, including three from junior Alex Miner.  
 
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- 14 of Rudsinski's 21 kills came in the final three sets, including six each in sets three and four.
- Sophomore Selena Nolte added 11 kills, seven digs and four blocks.
- Both Triton setters recorded a double-double, including senior Madyson Abeyta (21 assists, 11 digs) and freshman Payton Kennelly (18 assists, 13 digs).
- UMSL recorded a season-high 97 digs, having five players in double figures, including junior Alivia Brinker (13) and sophomore Morgan Childers (10).

UMSL returns home this weekend, hosting No. 3 ranked Lewis on Friday at 7 p.m. and Wisconsin-Parkside Saturday at 3 p.m.
