SPRINGFIELD, ILL. - The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's soccer team outshot host Illinois Springfield on Friday night in Great Lakes Valley Conference play, but came up short in a 2-1 loss.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The host Prairie Stars broke the scoreless game three and a half minutes before the half and added a second goal 2:16 into the second frame of play.
- Freshman Maya Ware netted her second goal of the season in the 73rd minute to break up the shutout, placing the ball in the left post on a shot from outside the top right corner off a pass from senior Sydney Bloch.
STATISTICALLY SPEAKING
- The Tritons equaled a season-high 23 shots, putting eight on goal. Sophomore Emily Hanewinkel took five of those shots with two on goal, while Ware and senior Lexi Norton put both their attempts on target.
- UIS recorded 14 shots, including four on goal and had a 10-5 advantage in corner kicks.
