Volleyball Upsets No. 23 Rockhurst

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Juniors Kylie Rudsinski and Selena Nolte combined for 34 kills on Friday night to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team upset No. 23 ranked Rockhurst, 3-1, in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
 
The Tritons extended their win streak to six with the 23-25, 25-20, 25-21, 25-23 win. The victory also snapped a nine match losing skid to the Hawks and was the program's first since in the series since 2011.

How it Happened:
  • SET 1: Rockhurst rallied from a 23-19 deficit to garner the win.
  • SET 2: UMSL totaled 17 kills, including six from Rudsinski, while hitting .250 and limiting the Hawks to a .130 attack percentage.
  • SET 3: UMSL hit .275 and got five kills from Nolte and four from Rudsinski, while junior Amanda Vollmer tallied four blocks.
  • SET 4: After UMSL had taken a 17-11 lead on a block by senior Alex Miner and freshman Charlotte Richards, Rockhurst chipped away before going ahead 23-21. However, UMSL finished the match with four straight, including two kills and a block from Rudsinski.
 
Statistically Speaking
  • Rudsinski had a match-high 18 kills, while Nolte finished with 16, moving just four shy of becoming the eighth player in program history to tally 1,000.
  • UMSL finished with 16 blocks, its second most this season, with Vollmer tallying a career-best nine. Miner added seven.
  • Sophomore Payton Kennelly recorded 28 assists and 13 digs.
  • Freshman Megan Woll registered 28 digs, while senior Maddy Russell added 16.
 
Up Next: UMSL hosts William Jewell tomorrow at 3 p.m. on Senior Day. Prior to the match, seniors Alivia Brinker, Alex Miner and Maddy Russell will be honored.
