ST. LOUIS, MO. – Freshman libero
Megan Woll tallied 38 digs to break the single season record on Tuesday night as the University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team closed out the home portion of its schedule with a hard-fought 3-2 loss to Illinois Springfield in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.
Woll, who has 603 digs this season, surpassed the previous mark of 595 set by Carolyn Holstein in 2009.
In a match that saw 54 ties and 30 lead changes, only one set was decided by more than three points as UIS won 23-25, 25-17, 27-25, 24-26, 15-12.

How it Happened:
- SET 1: In a set of long rallies, the Tritons recorded 34 digs, including 13 from freshman libero Megan Woll. UMSL also hit .208, while holding a 3-1 blocking advantage.
- SET 2: Freshman Karlyn Hannewald came off the bench to record five kills in seven swings with no errors (.714 attack percentage).
- SET 3: The Prairie Stars rallied from a 24-22 deficit to garner the 27-25 win.
- SET 4: UMSL racked up 21 kills to UIS's 13, and got six of those from senior Maddy Russell who didn't have an error in 13 swings.
- SET 5: UIS used a 5-0 run to pull away from a 7-7 tie, recording three blocks during that run.
Statistically Speaking
- UMSL hit .153, while UIS hit .221 and owned a 17-6 blocking advantage.
- Junior Kylie Rudsinski recorded a team-best 18 kills, leading five players in double figures, which also included junior Selena Nolte (15), Russell (13), Hannewald (11) and senior Alex Miner (11).
- Sophomore Payton Kennelly notched her seventh double-double of the season with 37 assists and 14 digs.
- Russell added 16 digs for her fourth double-double, including her second straight and her third in the last four matches, while senior Alivia Brinker recorded 17 digs.
- UMSL had 115 digs, going over 100 for the third time this season.
