Women’s Basketball Defeats Quincy to Finish Season Perfect in the Mark Twain Building

ST. LOUIS, MO. – Senior Jordan Fletcher poured in a career-high 34 points on Thursday night to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 91-75 GLVC win over Quincy in the home finale. With the win, the Tritons finish 12-0 inside the Mark Twain Building, while also running their win streak to 12 games.
 
Fletcher was 13-of-16 from the field and made all four free throws, while also grabbing nine rebounds and blocking two shots, moving within one of the program's career mark of 133.

How it Happened
Quincy made 4-of-8 three-pointers in the first quarter, shooting 56.3 percent from the floor, and led 23-21 after the first 10 minutes.
 
Junior Arielle Jackson scored eight straight for UMSL midway through the second quarter to give the Tritons a 31-29 lead with just under four minutes to go. UMSL went into halftime with a 36-33 halftime advantage.
 
The Tritons used a 13-6 start to open the second half, knocking down 6-of-7 field goals, to take a 49-39 lead four and a half minutes in. UMSL led 59-52 at the end of the frame.
 
The Hawks scored the first bucket of the fourth quarter to make it a five-point game, but UMSL followed with an 11-2 run with eight of those points coming from Fletcher, to go ahead 70-56. The Tritons scored 11 of their final 17 points at the free throw line in the final 4:16.
 
Numbers of Note
- Junior Arielle Jackson tied a career-high 23 points, while junior Kaitlynn Henning also tied a career-high with 19 points and dished out eight assists.
- Freshman Alex LaPorta added seven assists and a team-high 12 rebounds.
- UMSL shot 58.5 percent, including 66.7 percent in the second half, and owned a 36-25 rebounding advantage.
- Quincy finished the game shooting 44.1 percent.
- UMSL outscored the Hawks, 20-8, in points off turnovers and 52-16 in points in the paint.
 
Triton Tidbits
UMSL's 12 straight wins ties second longest mark in program history (1988-89)… Fletcher recorded her sixth straight 20-point outing and the second 30-point game of her career… UMSL head coach Katie Vaughn is one win shy of tying the coaching wins mark of 97 set by Mike Larson (1981-89).
