Fletcher, Jackson Lead Women's Basketball to Seventh Straight Win

KENOSHA, WIS. – Senior Jordan Fletcher and junior Arielle Jackson combined for 45 points on Saturday as the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team picked up its seventh straight win with a 77-63 Great Lakes Valley Conference victory at Wisconsin-Parkside.
 
Fletcher led the way a season-high 25 points and also grabbed eight rebounds, including the 600th of her career, becoming just the third player in program history to do so.
 
Jackson added a career-best 21 points, knocking down 3-of-4 three-pointers.
 
Additionally, senior Shawnta Johnson filled out the stat sheet and flirted with a triple-double, finishing with 14 points, 10 rebounds and eight assists.

How it Happened
UMSL held a 39-35 halftime lead with Jackson scoring 14 of those points, 12 of which came in the first frame. She scored 10 straight for the Tritons in a span of 3:26 early in the first quarter. Both teams scored 18 points in the opening 10 minutes.
 
After UMSL posted a 49-40 lead midway through the third quarter, the Rangers answered with a 12-5 run, pulling within 52-50 with 1:42 on the clock. However, Jackson and junior Kaitlynn Henning followed with back-to-back threes before UMSL took a 58-52 lead into the final quarter.
 
A 9-3 start to the fourth quarter by the Tritons put the lead into double figures for the first time at 67-55 with 5:33 remaining on a jumper from Fletcher.
 
Numbers of Note
- UMSL shot 49.1 percent and was 5-of-10 from three-point range.
- UW-Parkside connected at a 40.7 percent clip.
- The Tritons held a narrow 33-31 rebounding advantage and finished with a season-low seven turnovers.
- UMSL was 18-of-24 at the free throw line and made all 10 in the first half, while UW-Parkside was also perfect at the charity strip in the first 20 minutes with all seven makes.
 
Triton Tidbit
UMSL's seven-game win streak is its longest since the 2013-14 team reeled off 10 straight.
