Women's Basketball Picks Up Eighth Straight Win in Defeat of Indianapolis

ST. LOUIS, MO., February 8, 2018 – Senior Jordan Fletcher scored a season and game-high 28 points Thursday night to help the University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team to a 79-63 win over visiting Indianapolis in Great Lakes Valley Conference action.
 
Fletcher went 11-of-14 from the field to help the Tritons shoot 51.7 percent in their eighth straight win and also pulled down seven rebounds.
 
Junior Arielle Jackson added 23 points for her second 20-plus scoring game and her third in the last four games.

How it Happened
UMSL shot 58.6 percent in the first half en route to a 45-34 halftime lead. The Tritons led 24-16 at the end of the first frame, using a 12-0 run to erase an early 12-7 deficit. Fletcher scored seven of those points, finishing the opening half with 18 points.
 
The Greyhounds used a 10-4 start to the second half to get within 49-44 at the 4:54 mark, but UMSL ended the quarter with a 12-4 spurt, taking a 61-48 lead into the final 10 minutes.
 
Numbers of Note
- UMSL held a 37-23 rebounding advantage with freshman Alex LaPorta pulling down 12. Six of those came on the offensive end as the Tritons outscored the Greyhounds, 16-6, in second chance points.
- UMSL recorded 21 assists on 30 field goals with senior Shawnta Johnson dishing out seven and LaPorta recording five assists.
- UIndy shot 48.1 percent and got a combined 48 points from Taylor Drury (25) and Martha Burse (23).
- UMSL improves to 9-0 inside the Mark Twain Building this season.
