ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis men's basketball team saw visiting Indianapolis rally back from a 20-point deficit en route to handing the Tritons a 77-70 overtime loss in Great Lakes Valley Conference action Thursday night.
Despite the loss, UMSL equaled a season-high 13 three-pointers, seven of which came from senior
Steven Davis, who led all scorers with 24 points.
The Greyhounds, which entered the game shooting 43.6 percent from beyond the arc, was limited to just 3-of-16, but dominated in the paint, outscoring the Tritons, 41-14.

How it Happened
UMSL raced out to an 11-1 lead, while UIndy made just one of its first seven field goals. The Tritons later used a 14-2 spurt, making 5-of-6 shots, including 4-of-5 from three-point range, to turn a 16-7 lead into a 27-9 advantage at the 10:41 mark.
After back-to-back three-pointers from senior
Steven Davis gave UMSL its largest lead of the game at 36-16 lead with 4:39 remaining in the half. The Greyounds finished the opening frame by outscoring the Tritons, 12-3. UMSL had three turnovers during that stretch.
UIndy pulled within five points at 51-46 with 11:13 to play, but Davis followed with a three-pointer and a pair of free throws. Later, after a junior
Johnathan Matthews scored six straight, including a long ball that made it 62-51 with 7:10 to go, the Greyhounds scored nine unanswered to make it 62-60. The game saw its first tie when Ajay Lawton made the first of two free throws to the knot the score at 67-67 with seven ticks on the clock. UMSL got two shots off in the closing seconds, including one with .08 that just fell off the side of the rim.
UIndy took its first lead 40 seconds into the overtime and never looked back.
