GREENSBORO, N.C. – University of Missouri-St. Louis sophomore
Merel Visser became the women's swimming program's first-ever All-American on Wednesday as competition at the 2018 NCAA Division II Championships got underway.
Visser placed 16
th in the 1,000-yard freestyle in a time of 10:11.64 to claim Honorable Mention All-America status.
On the men's side, sophomore
Patryk Golinski swam the same race, breaking his own school record in a time of 9:25.18 and placing 22nd.
Visser and Golinski will both swim in the 500-yard freestyle prelims on Friday morning and in the 1,650-yard freestyle on Saturday.
