ST. LOUIS, MO. – The University of Missouri-St. Louis baseball team was limited to seven hits in a pair of 8-0 losses to Quincy on Saturday as the two teams wrapped up a four-game Great Lakes Valley Conference series.

Kevin Smith was tagged with the loss despite allowing just two earned runs on two hits. Smith was perfect through three innings, retiring all nine batters, including five on strikeouts, before the Hawks struck for three runs in the fourth, leading off with a single and three straight walks that made it 1-0. The other runs came home on a wild pitch and a passed ball.
Two Triton errors and a two-run double in the sixth helped Quincy extend the lead to 8-0.

Smith struck out eight and walked four in five and two-thirds of an inning.
Game 2: Quincy 8, UMSL 0
Quincy struck for three early runs in the first inning and added single runs in the sixth and seventh frames to make it a 5-0 advantage before a three-run homer in the eighth.
Senior
Jim Brandt was tagged for his first loss of the season, going seven and one-thirds of an inning.
UMSL was held to five hits, including a double by redshirt freshman
Keaton King. Freeman and Seymour also had a single in the nightcap.
Up Next: UMSL will face crosstown foe Maryville in a four-game league series next weekend. The first two games on Saturday will be at Maryville, while the final two games on Sunday will be at home.
