FINDLAY, OHIO – The University of Missouri-St. Louis volleyball team suffered a pair of setbacks on Friday at the Findlay Tournament, falling in four sets to undefeated Ashland before a five-set loss to No. 24 ranked Findlay.
Ashland 3, UMSL 1 (25-21, 25-20, 20-25, 25-17)
Match Notables
- SET 1: Back-to-back kills from senior Maddy Russell tied the score at 10-10, but five straight by Ashland ignited a 10-3 run and gave the Eagles their largest lead of the set at 20-13.
- SET 2: The Tritons jumped out to a 4-1 lead, scoring the first two points on a pair of kills from junior Selena Nolte. Ashland tied the frame at 5-5, while another pair of Russell kills made it 15-15 before the Eagles answered with four straight points en route to taking set point at 24-17.
- SET 3: UMSL took an early 8-3 lead and after Ashland pulled ahead 10-9, four kills from junior Kylie Rudsinski in an 8-2 Tritons run made it 17-12. Ashland got within one twice, but Nolte had two kills and a block in UMSL's final four points.
- Ashland used runs of 6-2 and 8-2 to open an 20-10 advantage.
Statistically Speaking
- Nolte tied for match-high honors with 17 kills, while Miner added a season-best 13 kills. Rudsinski also had 13 kills.
- UMSL hit .271, while Ashland hit a season-best .352 and held a 7-5 blocking advantage.
- Sophomore Payton Kennelly recorded 44 assists.
- Freshman Megan Woll tallied 13 digs, while freshman Charlotte Richards had three service aces.

- SET 1: No team owned a lead larger than three (Findlay at 7-4). UMSL went ahead 24-22 on Nolte kill, but Oilers rallied back for a 25-24 lead. UMSL fended off two set points before FU scored final two points.
- SET 2: UMSL owned an early 9-5 lead and never trailed in the set, in which they hit .343.
- SET 4: Three aces, including two from Richards, who also added two kills, helped the Tritons to a 12-4 lead. The Oilers followed with a 9-2 run to pull within 14-13, but never pulled ahead.
- SET 5: UMSL overcame a 6-3 deficit, tying the decisive set at 9-9 on an ace from senior Alivia Brinker, but Findlay followed with six straight to end the match.
Statistically Speaking
- Nolte recorded a career-high 28 kills and picked up the double-double with 10 digs.
- Kennelly dished out a career-high 52 assists.
- Woll registered 26 digs.
- UMSL hit .193, while Findlay hit .261 and owned a 9-5 blocking advantage.
- The Oilers recorded 12 service aces, while UMSL had eight, including three each from Brinker and Richards.
