QUINCY, ILL., January 19, 2019 – The University of Missouri-St. Louis women's basketball team shot 61.5 percent in the first quarter and led by as many as nine in that opening frame, but couldn't maintain its quick start on Saturday, suffering a 77-65 loss at Quincy in Great Lakes Valley Conference play.

How it Happened
UMSL held a 19-15 lead at the end of the opening quarter, but saw Quincy surge ahead for a 42-31 halftime lead. The Tritons connected at just a 21.4 percent clip in the second frame as they were outscored, 27-12, by the Hawks. Quincy also took advantage of 11 first half UMSL turnovers, scoring 13 points on the miscues.
After the Hawks took their largest lead of the game at 57-36 midway through the third quarter, UMSL staged a 12-0 run, pulling within 57-48 on a three-point play by freshman
Faye Meissner with 2:09 on the clock. Quincy took a 60-48 lead into the final 10 minutes, while the Tritons were unable to get their deficit under nine points.
UMSL shot 33.3 percent over the final three quarters.

- Senior Kaitlynn Henning and redshirt junior Laura Szorenyi had 15 points each.
- Freshman Kiara Stewart just missed the double-double, finishing with 10 rebounds and nine points.
